Steampunk Scarab II by Phoenix-Cry Steampunk Scarab II by Phoenix-Cry
My most popular deviation is a little Steampunk bug that is a pin. Well sadly he was in a bit of an accident (I dropped him) he got a little damaged. So I decided that instead of fixing it that I would tear it apart and do it again. I had recently purchased some new larger gears. So here he is! Steampunk Bug Revisited!

For sale: [link]

PS- So I went on Ebay and discovered that the antique scarab beetle pin (purchased for 5$) that I cut the pin off of go for hundreds of dollars... oops. I seem to have mutliated a pricy antique in the name of 'art'.

Here is the original:

With shipping and everything would come to 60$ American. This guy was a little speical and he sold for 175, so he won't look just like this, but he'll still be awesome. I can make him as a pin or a pendant.

Gorgeous and creepy. I can't believe you found one of those pins cheap enough to destroy! I've wanted one since I was 8 :p

I'm sure you're not the first, especially with the popularity of steampunk! I love taking apart nonfunctioning movements myself, but some artists make me want to cry with the still functioning pocket watches they destroy. I'm in the middle, I like steampunk, but I'm a sucker for original victorian/edwardian jewelry too. I'd love to see someone try to make steampunk mourning jewelry!

I love this! Have you ever seen the intro to the SyFy show "Warehouse 13"? There's a scarab in the montage that this is just a dead-ringer for! Awesome job.

Ooooo, I have not, but I'd love to see that! Does that scarab work?! That would be way cool if it could fly.

It's actually supposed to be some kind of special "artifact"
(They haven't really gone into any detail on the scarab, itself) but it looks to be made of stone, malachite maybe, but the wings flutter like its alive (or mechanical). But, in terms of steampunkish items, you should definitely check out the Warehouse on SyFy. They have things by Tessla and H.G. Wells--verrrry interesting.

Also, if steampunk is your thing, you might want to check out the online graphic novel, Freak Angels. The main character on there is frickin swet.
