This is a rare mutation of a grey fox that has no guard hairs only his under coat! This is a recessive unstable gene, meaning that a Sampson fox can shed into a normal fox and back again. This mutation was once thought to be a part of cryptology, and often mistaken for a chupacabra.

This mutation is more commonly seen in red foxes and in the ranched fox. I've only ever heard one other sampson grey fox and as far as I know this is the only mounted one.

I had a lot of fun doing this fox! Even though the fur on the shoulder slipped a bit which is why there is so much grass right there.

This fox is amazingly soft!!

Beautiful outcome!! the habitat itself doesn't convince me too much, I think is not well balanced but I don't know, maybe it is just me.

Still your work on the fox is just wonderful specially his "stealthy/predator" look :)

The habitat was built with stuff I found around the house, I'll do a better one when I move this onto a pedestal in a year or so when I mount it with a normal grey.

Sneaky fox is sneaky!

I collect stuff when it is on sale at my local shops in case I need to throw a habitat together!

Thank you!! I love it too! I will improve on it one day (when I move into a bigger house in a year or so) but putting him on a pedastal with a normal gray to show the contrast!
