Pied Fawn WIP by Phoenix-Cry Pied Fawn WIP by Phoenix-Cry
It has been a while since I've worked with a fresh wet tanned pelt and not a 'see if I can salvage this' hide.

So far I have to say that I'm in love with this little doe!! The back legs look odd because the skin is just hanging there, I have a lot of stitch work to do tomorrow!

I'm trying something new with the ears, they are full of epoxy sculpt, I've been told it works.

She was born on a deer farm, the shaved area on her leg is where they put in an IV to try and save her. Sadly she died at three days old.

at first I was gonna be pissed and not appreciate this beautiful work of art because someone had killed a beautiful baby just cuz it was piebald, then I grew up and read the description. I really am glad you have the talent to preserve the beauty of this creature to share with all of us.

Thank you!  When you see just about any fawn in taxidermy 9 times out of 10 the animal has died of natural causes.  Fawns are illegal to trap/hunt at this age and since the adult deer are worth so much more to the farmer than the fawns they are rarely slaughtered for taxidermy.

At only three days old she is a tiny thing! Spent *hours* wittling down the form to fit her on it!

Awwww, its sad that she died at only 3 days old, but its kinda nice that she will be enjoyed rather than left to rot in the ground. She is absolutely beautiful!

Much better than ground rotting. At least the owners tried all they could. She just wasn't strong enough

Oh my, what a gorgeous little fawn!
You going to keep her or sell her? Because if it's the latter, I'm very interested :)

I haven't decided if I'm going to sell or not. :giggle: If you want make an offer once she's done note me.

Don't suppose you'd take trades for mountable pelts? I can do money, but at the moment I'd like to get pelts out of here (we're moving)

At the moment I've got SO many pelts to work on (a whole freezer and half my closet). So it would have to be a really special pelt
