Pied Fawn by Phoenix-Cry Pied Fawn by Phoenix-Cry
This is a little pied buck (I thought it was a doe at first but while working on the underside I found that it was a buck) that was born on a deer farm. The shaved spot on his leg is from where they put in an IV to try and save him when he got sick. Sadly it wasn't enough and he died at just three days old.

I'm going to place him on a base that will have a plant that comes up to hide the shaved bit.

In the real work his nose isn't so brightly pink, the flash or something must have done that.

This is my first fawn! Man they are a LOT of work!

Yeah, they had this little guy living in their house while they were trying to nurse him back to health, but sadly it wasnot enough.  I'm pleased you like him, I had a lot of fun working on him

Fawns are almost never killed for taxidermy, 9 out of 10 if you see a fawn mount it was raised on a farm and died a natural death.

It is! :D I almost want to say he has a... ghostly appearance. Kind of odd, I know, since he's not a solid white. His face almost reminds me of some kind of 'masked spirit' or something. Definitely awesome!

Poor baby. :( It would be so cool to see him as a full-grown buck!

But, he's a stunning mount, and such cool colors! I just adore his little tail! :D

He's so pretty, especially his white face and legs and otherwise typical deer coloration. A pity the poor thing died so young, but at least he was immortalized in such a lovely way. (A pity your flash or whatever messed up his nose color too...)

That is a HARD pose to mount... your lip line is too long, Or your face skin is pulled to far back on the nose. You should have a good transition between the lower lip and mouth corner, with the upper lip sticking out slightly more. Tail shouldn't curl, Deer almost always cary the tail strait either down, up or wagging, not curled like a goats.

Perfect job aligning your hair patterns. The armpits and leg lines are exactly where they should be. Nice job tucking by the back leg. Nice job shaping the ears. Seams are clean, nice job grooming.

Overall a Nice mount on a REALLY tough specimen.

The lip is probably not right due to the fact that the fawn was 2 1/2 nose to ear and the form was 3 inches and I didn't want to shave down the face...so I did some stretching. Giggle.

The ears have epoxy in them which was a first for me because the 'small' ear liners that I got for him were like half the size of the whole fawn! I don't know what deer those liners would fit in, mabye a six month old!
