Chapter Six

Elizabeth busied herself in the living room while her husband ate breakfast at the kitchen table while he pretended to read the newspaper.  She knew that he was trying his hardest to keep to up appearances.  He didn't want her to worry about him, but Elizabeth wasn't falling for it.  She knew that he was just waiting for her to announce that she was off to work so that he could bolt to the office to rejoin the hunt for Neal.

Chapter Five

Still in his cotton shirt and pajama bottoms Neal lounged in on the plush love-seat staring out over the night time city scape.  The lights of New York at night were breathtaking.  Neal never understood why so many movies tried to portray New York as a dirty, crime, and corruption riddled slum.  In truth New York was like a beautiful women, sure she had her faults and she could be deadly, but the risks were well worth the reward to just bask in her glow.

Chapter Four

"Damn it, Neal...where are you?"

Sitting at his desk Burke put down the initial police report on the Sapphire Waterfall heist.  The scene was classic Caffery, no forced entry, no fingerprints, not even a glimpse of him on the security cameras, and no one was hurt.  It was as if he had just stepped into the Metropolitan and someone had just handed it to him.  The only thing that was out of place were the three human hairs left behind.  It would take some time to get back the DNA results, but the length and color matched Caffery's perfectly.

NOTE: some have asked what the time line is here.  This happens somewhere mid season two, I'm going to be ignoring certain aspects of the show (like the music box), and I probably won't use the character Sarah (mostly because she doesn't have a place in the plot line).
