All for One

“Jack...are you sure about this?”

“Look, Daniel, you’re either with me or against me on this.  Right?”

“Right.”  Daniel said unconvincingly.  “What about Sam and Teal’c?”

“No, forget it.  Carter can’t be trusted.  Neither can Teal’c for that matter.  Their minds have been seriously compromised.”

“I wouldn’t go so far as to say ‘compromised’.”

“I’m telling you Daniel, they’ve been brainwashed, and if they get a hold of us we’ll fall to the same fate.”

Daniel shook his head sadly and followed Jack down the empty corridor.  They made their way to one of the lesser used VIP rooms.  Jack looked both ways to make sure they hadn’t been followed before closing the door.

“I don’t know about you, but I need a beer.”

“I’ll pass.”

Jack shrugged and went over to the small fridge.  He hid here often when Hammond was torked at him, so he always made sure to keep at least a six-pack in stock.  Before he could retrieve his beverage the sounds of someone coming down the hall pricked his ears.

“Damn it,”  Jack muttered  “Carter’s coming.”

“How can you tell?”

“I recognize her footsteps.”

“You what?”

“Never mind.  Maybe she’ll just walk by...”

“Sir?”  Sam asked as she knocked on the door.

“Damn.”  Jack looked to Daniel and lowered his voice.  “Okay, I’ll distract her, then we’ll make a break for it.”

“Jac...”

“No time for protests, Daniel.”

Jack opened the door and flashed Sam a bright fake smile.  She looked irritated with him, but that was nothing new.  Looking past Jack she gave Daniel a ‘I expect this from him, but I thought you’d know better’ look and he smiled sheepishly.

“Carter, we...uh...we were just coming to find you.”

“Yeah, right.  Sure you were.  Come on, Sir, there is no avoiding this.”

“Carter, check this out, I know it looks like an ordinary watch, but it’s actually a highly sophisticated alien device.”  Jack said as he pull off his watch.  “Go get it!”

Sam stood still as a statue as Jack threw the watch across the room where it landed in the far corner.  Taking a page out of Teal’c’s book Sam raised a disapproving eyebrow.  Daniel closed his eyes and pinched at the bridge of his nose in embarrassment.

“She’s not buying it, Daniel.  Run!  Save yourself!”

“Sir, I think you’re being a little melodramatic.”  Sam sighed.  “It’s not like I’m taking you to your death.”

“So says you!”

“Come on you two, there is no getting out of this.”

“But, but...”

“No ‘buts’, we are *all* going to the Team Building Retreat.”

“Hey, Daniel and I already make great team!”

“Is that so?”

“Yes, that’s so.”

“Then why was it Daniel who told me where I could find you two?”

Jack turned on Daniel with a look of exaggerated shocked horror on his face.  Daniel gave him his best innocent look, but the Colonel was not fooled.

“Traitor.”  Jack hissed.

“Sorry.”

“Just don’t expect me to catch you if we do any trust building exercises.”

******
Just a quick little 'one shot' cause I got the idea of Jack trying to distract Sam by throwing his watch and it made me giggle so I built a story around it.
